HMRC targets small businesses

HMRC has announced it is to launch a programme of Business Record Checks (BRCs) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) during 2011. Up to 50,000 Business Record Checks will be undertaken a year which will on average take ½ day to complete. There is a penalty of up to £3,000 which can be imposed in cases where the Revenue find serious faults with your records.
